Director, Software Quality Assurance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee and assist testing for PKC’s software products. Including, but not limited to: Coupler software engines and associated toolkits, various web applications such as reports, utilities, and the corporate Web site, as well as internal tools such as the KNet and Coupler editors.

  • Develop time estimates and schedules for each testing cycle
  • Develop and maintain test plans
  • Oversee the reporting and tracking of bugs
  • Provide timely status, metrics and issues to product managers, software developers, and management
  • Indicate when products are ready for release to users

Oversee test efforts to cover the entire scope of product performance and function. Continue to evolve strategies for:

  • unit testing
  • testing multiple software products simultaneously
  • load and stress testing
  • performance and network testing
  • functional and regression testing
  • staffing to meet periods of high demand

Oversee and coordinate when required the architecture and maintaining of testing environments.

  • Provide technical expertise in the usage of testing tools and apply industry best practices related to the science of testing

Lead the SQA team. Responsible for all aspects of management and team leadership: staffing, performance appraisals, counseling, career development, and training. Serve as mentor and coach to the team.

  • Set standards and define best practices for testing
  • Develop and monitor department budget

Recommend, coordinate, and implement SQA efforts with other departments and areas of responsibility, providing a high degree of transparency into plans, limitations, and progress of testing effort.

  • Continue to evolve the methodology and processes for testing and inspecting content in conjunction with new products

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills are critical. Building and maintaining relationships across departments is a crucial aspect of this role.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Must be a team player and work well with other IT professionals in a collaborative environment.
  • Must have excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated career commitment to testing and SQA is preferred.
  • Software development background preferred –Web technologies.
  • Experience with Web Servers particularly Windows Server 2003 and higher running IIS.
  • Thorough understanding of development and testing methodologies and experience leading multiple testing projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to comprehend different types of software and adapt testing strategies accordingly.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

5 or more years in a Testing Lead or SQA Manager capacity. Must have experience as a manager and experience with testing or software quality assurance; also prefer additional experience as a developer. BS required, MS preferred.
